A data source enables you to import external data into your Comeen Play space, which can then be utilized within your templates and broadcasted in your playlist.
For instance, a calendar data source would be beneficial for displaying a room's booking schedule on your screens.
Please note: In this guide, we will demonstrate how to set up an online calendar data source using Google Calendar. However, this method can be applied to any calendar that is shareable and publicly accessible, whether online or in iCal format for imported calendars.
First, you'll need to obtain the shareable iCal link for your calendar. Here's how to do it on Google Calendar:
Click on the three dots next to your Calendar.
Click on "Settings and sharing"
Option 1: Online calendar
Using the Online Calendar method ensures that your data source is automatically updated regularly.
1. Make sure your calendar is publicly available in the "Access permissions for events" section.
2. Copy the public link in iCal format in the "Integrate calendar" section
3. Return to your Comeen Play space, and click on the "New data source" button on the "Data sources" page.
4. Select "Online Calendar" and click on "Next"
5. Paste your calendar link, then enable the "Customized timezone" option and select the timezone of your calendar.
6. Finally, click on "Save".
Your online calendar data source is now created and ready to be used in your templates. You may want to consider creating a data view to further organize or customize your data.
Option 2: Imported calendar
1. In the "Import & export" section, click on the "Export" button
2. Extract the calendar (.ics file) from the ZIP file on your computer.
3. Return to your Comeen Play space, and click on the "New data source" button on the "Data sources" page.
4. Select "Imported Calendar" and click on "Next"
5. Click on "Upload a file" and select the ICS file you just exported.
6. Finally, click on "Save"
Your online calendar data source is now created and ready to be used in your templates. You may want to consider creating a data view to further organize or customize your data.
