This article explains the end-to-end flow to create a Looker Studio dashboard in Comeen Play and broadcast it to your screens using the native Dashboards feature. You’ll prepare your Google SSO Passport, create the dashboard entry, connect the embedded Looker Studio URL, set the refresh interval, and add it to a playlist.
Prerequisites
A Google SSO Passport in Comeen Play that’s properly configured and synchronized.
An active Looker Studio (Google Data Studio) account.
The Google account used in your Google Passport must have view access to the Looker Studio report you plan to display.
ℹ️ Tip: If you don’t have a Google Passport yet, follow our setup guide: "How to Create a Google Passport".
1) Verify your access
Before creating the dashboard in Comeen Play, ensure:
Your Google SSO Passport exists and is synchronized.
Your Looker Studio account is active and the target report is accessible with the same Google account used by the Passport.
If you need to create or fix your Passport configuration, see: How to Create a Google Passport.
2) Create the Dashboard in Comeen Play
In Comeen Play, open the left sidebar and go to "Dashboards".
Click "Dashboard +".
Choose your content type:
Select "Looker Studio" if you have a synchronized Google Passport and a Looker Studio report to display.
Name your dashboard and set authorizations for specific users or for all users, depending on your governance needs.
Click "Save" (bottom-right).
You’ll be redirected to the configuration page for the dashboard.
3) Configure the Looker Studio dashboard
On the dashboard configuration screen:
Assign the Passport:
Open the Passport dropdown and select your Google Passport.
Important: Only Google Passports can be used for Looker Studio dashboards, and the Google account linked to this Passport must have access to the report you want to display.
Add the embedded Looker Studio URL:
In your Looker Studio report, click "Share" > "Embed report".
Choose "Embed URL" (not the embed code).
Copy the Embed URL.
Paste the Embed URL into your Comeen Play dashboard URL field.
Set the refresh time:
Choose a refresh interval between 1 minute and 6 hours, based on how frequently your data changes and player/network constraints.
Click "Load Dashboard" and then "Save".
Notes:
Using the Embed URL is mandatory. If embed is not enabled for your report, enable it from the Looker Studio report’s embed settings first.
If you see permissions issues on screen later, double-check that the Google Passport’s account can view the report.
4) Add the dashboard to a playlist
In the left sidebar, go to Playlists.
Select an existing playlist, or click Playlist + (top-right) to create a new one.
Click Add content + (top-right).
Select Dashboards as the content type and click Next.
Provide a name for your dashboard content, set the slide duration, and choose your newly created dashboard from the list.
Click Save to finalize.
Tip: If this dashboard should be your primary screen content, keep the slide duration long or make it the only item in the playlist. If rotating with other content, choose a duration that allows the dashboard to load and be readable.
5) Publish and verify on screens
Assign the playlist to your screens or screen groups as usual.
If you encounter permission or loading issues, re-check:
The selected Google Passport and its access to the report.
That you used the Embed URL from Looker Studio.
The refresh interval and playlist slide duration (allow enough time for the report to render).
