Sleep Mode Configuration

Updated over a week ago

At Comeen, we strive to make your digital signage management both efficient and environmentally friendly. One way we achieve this is through the Sleep Mode feature, which allows you to configure and manage when your screens are turned on and when they go to sleep, depending on schedules and content availability.

These features help conserve energy, reduce costs, and contribute to sustainability by ensuring your screens are only active when needed.

There are two separate options that work independently of each other. This article will guide you through setting up and customizing the sleep mode for your signage screens.

1. Switch-on schedule

The Switch-on schedule setting controls when the screen powers on, based on a schedule you define.

How it works

  • When the Switch-on schedule is enabled
The screen will automatically turn on at the times specified in the schedule. Outside of these hours, the screen will automatically go to sleep.

  • When the Switch-on schedule is disabled
The screen will remain on continuously, unless it enters sleep mode for another reason (for example, with Automatic Sleep Mode, when there is no content to be displayed).

This setting is useful if you want your screens to operate only during specific hours (e.g. business hours).

2. Automatic Sleep Mode

The Automatic sleep mode setting controls what happens when no content is being played on the screen.

How it works

  • When the Automatic sleep mode is enabled
The display will automatically enter sleep mode and turn off when no content is being played.

  • When the Automatic sleep mode is disabled
The display will stay on, even if no content is currently assigned or playing. You will see this screen with our logo or the logo that was set up in your tenant.

This helps avoid confusion right after pairing a screen, when no content has been configured yet.

Default behavior on newly paired displays

Automatic Sleep Mode is disabled by default, allowing the screen to stay on until content is added or the setting is enabled.

How Display Schedule and Automatic Sleep Mode work together

  • Switch On Schedule controls when the screen can turn on

  • Automatic Sleep Mode controls whether the screen sleeps when nothing is playing

If the Switch-on schedule is enabled, the screen sleeps outside of scheduled hours. During scheduled hours, the screen stays on only if Automatic Sleep Mode is disabled or if content is playing.

If the Switch-on schedule is disabled, the screen can stay on at any time. When Automatic Sleep Mode is enabled, the screen sleeps whenever no content is playing. When it is disabled, the screen remains on even without content.

Configuring Sleep Mode settings

  1. Go to the "Displays" page in the Comeen Play interface.

  2. Locate the screen you want to configure and click the Edit button.

  3. Scroll down to the "Sleep Mode" section at the bottom of the form.

  4. Check the box labeled "Switch-on schedule" to enable sleep mode.

    • Note: this toggle allows you to activate or deactivate the functionality as needed.

  5. Set the specific days and hours when the screen should be active. This ensures the screen is only operational during your desired timeframes.

  6. Customize the schedule further: Assign up to two time-slots for each day.

  7. If you wish to activate the Automatic sleep mode, check the toggle below as well.

  8. Click the Save button to confirm your Sleep Mode configuration.
