Use a Cisco Room Bar as a signage screen

This article explains how to set up a Cisco Room Bar to display Comeen Play signage. You can pair a Room Bar with your tenant in two ways:

  • Direct Digital Signage activation in the Webex Control Hub (quick for single devices): enable digital signage on the device and paste the Comeen Auto-association URL.

  • Template method (recommended for many devices): create a Webex configuration template that enables standby signage and contains the Auto-association URL, then apply that template to one or more devices.

Prerequisites

  • A Webex Control Hub admin account with rights to manage devices: https://admin.webex.com.

  • Admin access to your Comeen Play tenant so you can obtain the Auto-association URL.

  • The Cisco Room Bar must be online and managed in Webex Control Hub.

Step-by-step

Option A: Direct Digital Signage activation (single device)

  1. Generate the Auto-association URL from the settings of your Comeen Play tenant. Copy the URL and keep it ready.

  2. Go to https://admin.webex.com and sign in with an account that can manage devices.

  3. In the left menu, choose Devices and locate the Cisco Room Bar you want to configure.

  4. Open the device and go to Configurations, then select Digital Signage.

  5. Enable Digital Signage for the device.

  6. Paste the Auto-association URL into the URL field.

  7. Save the change.

Option B: Create a configuration template and apply it (recommended for many devices)

A. Create and configure the template

  1. Generate the Auto-association URL from the settings of your Comeen Play tenant. Copy the URL and keep it ready.

  2. Sign in to https://admin.webex.com.

  3. Go to Devices, then Templates, and create a new template (or edit an existing one).

  4. Configure the template and navigate to Standby → Signage.

  5. Set Mode to On.

  6. Under Standby → Signage → Add URL, paste the Auto-association URL from your Comeen Play tenant.

  7. Save the template.

B. Apply the template to device(s)

  1. In Webex Control Hub, go to Devices and open the Cisco Room Bar you want to configure.

  2. Go to Configurations.

  3. Select Configuration template, then select the template you created.

  4. Click Apply to push the template to the device.

Identify Your Displays and Manage Content in Comeen

In your Comeen space, you should see your Cisco devices listed as soon as they have started Comeen for the first time.

⚠️ Please note: Devices will initially display generic or random names, as shown in the screenshot below.

To identify and rename your devices, please follow these steps:

1. Stand in front of your Cisco device and restart it. When the Comeen app loads, you should see your device identifier displayed in the bottom-left corner. Consider filming the loading process or taking a picture to ensure you can reference it later.

2. In Comeen, navigate to the Displays page and click the Edit button next to the display with the corresponding identifier

3. Enter a new name for the display, then click Save.

4. Once your devices are listed, identified, and renamed, you will need to create a playlist and assign it to your displays.
