Set up a Cisco Room Navigator

This article explains how to configure a Cisco Room Navigator to run Comeen and display content. You can install the app directly on a device (quick for a single Navigator) or create a reusable Webex template (recommended for fleets).

Prerequisites

  • A Webex Control Hub admin account: https://admin.webex.com (ability to manage devices and templates).

  • The Cisco Room Navigator(s) must be online and managed in the Control Hub.

Step-by-step

Option A — Configure a single Navigator (direct device method)

  1. Open https://admin.webex.com and sign in with an account that can manage devices.

  2. In the left menu, go to Devices → find and select the Navigator you want to configure.

  3. Under Configurations, find Navigator persistent web app and select it.

  4. Select URL and paste this URL:

    https://display.dynamicscreen.xyz/golem/?model=cisco

  5. Allow JSXAPI access on the device before saving.

  6. Save the configuration.

Option B — Template method (recommended for fleets)

Use this method when you want consistent behaviour across several Navigators.

A. Create and configure the template

  1. Sign in to https://admin.webex.com and go to Devices, then Templates.

  2. Create a new template (or edit an existing one) and click Configure.

  3. Navigate to: UserInterface → HomeScreen → Peripherals → WebApp → URL.

    • Enter the web app URL:

      https://display.dynamicscreen.xyz/golem/?model=cisco

  4. Configure the network / websocket / xAPI settings required :

    • Enable WebSockets: NetworkServices → Websocket → FollowHTTPService

    • Enable HTTP+HTTPS: NetworkServices → HTTP → Mode → HTTP+HTTPS

    • Grant xAPI permission: WebEngine → Features → XAPI → Peripherals → AllowedHosts → Hosts.

      Enter this value:

      display.dynamicscreen.xyz

  5. Save the template.

B. Apply the template to device(s)

  1. In Devices, open the Navigator device you want to configure.

  2. Under Configurations, select Configuration template.

  3. Select the template you created.

  4. Click Apply to push the template to the device.

Pair the device in Comeen

Once set up, the Comeen app will launch on your device and display a pairing screen.
